@ljp7c4 omg! talking in groups I'm totally lossed, they might as well be speaking chinese, I was never diagnosed with it officially, but I had a neuropsyche, wasn't tested for apd, but the doctor told me that he suspects that I have it. I have add, visual spatial disorder, and I think a slight case of apd, Learning spanish helped me with my apd, my english comprehension has improved, I would go over the english and spanish words really slow while imagining sounds, feelings,and using visuals

@phantomofoaktown one thing that helps (even though you might end up looking strange) is talking really slow.. it not only helps my words come out right but the person I'm talking with will usually slow down their talking too. It also helps in some instances to just say you have trouble hearing. you don't have to explain your disorder but just say you have trouble hearing.. although talking in groups of people still has never worked for me. I don't have many friends, but things do get better

@ljp7c4 i think this is the worst learning disability, it fucking hurts when you can't understand or contribute to the conversation or even recall what someone tells you, it hurts when you can't integrate very well with the world

@ljp7c4 There's no medication for it.

@ljp7c4 Hey, I'm 20 and I have APD. From what I've read it sounds like you have been misdiagnosed :/ Hang in there though!

@ljp7c4
I'm so glad to learn about this. I don't want to take any medication for it if I do have this. But if I can determine this is what I have, I will hopefully be able to practice and get better about it.

I am 21 and after learning about this recently, I feel like I've had this all along even though I've been diagnosed with ADD. I don't always have trouble concentrating, especially when reading. But I have a hard time remembering words and directions. If I'm talking to someone sometimes I feel like they're speaking a different language. Or I'll think they said something that they didn't actually say. When I was younger I had multiple hearing tests, all came out fine.
