You know what's funny? If Goku didn't waste all that time, he could've put Cell there then teleported back.

Imagine if Goku teleported back to Earth. Cell wouldn't have blown up and would have gone on a killing spree in Other World. Goku had to make sure this was the end of Cell (which this wasn't, but whatever).

@cody32297 acctully goku wanted this for himself he said so to gohan while he was challenging cells kamehameha. He said that he was the reason for all the problems  earth has to face

Okay let's clear this up. Goku could've gone back to Earth easily. But let's remember what he said when Gohan and everyone else tried to bring him back to life with the Dragonballs. He said he didn't want to because he felt he was the reason all of these evil people were coming to Earth in the first place. (Raditz, Vegeta, frieza, Cell and the Androids etc.) he knew the world would be safer without him there which is why he sacrificed himself.
