July 14th is a day of festivities in France, it symbolizes the end of the Monarchy and the beginning of what is now called the First French Republic.
The Bastille, a prison at the time, was stormed on July 14, 1789.
This event came to represent the end of the king's power and the transfer of power to the people.
Today, July the 14th is a national holiday and a day of celebration, which takes the form of military parades and fireworks.
This video's fireworks are the ones fired in the city in which I live, Angers, they were fired next to the castle above the 'Loire' which is the river running through the city.
Yes there are people on the bridge and yes the fireworks in the end credits were on the castle running down one of it's towers.....and yes it caused a fire at the bottom of the tower which the fire brigade had to put out...I kid you not
The fireworks lasted 25 minutes but I did not want to make a 2 part video so I cut out all the long boring parts and made some small sacrifices here and there.
It is still in the same order as it was fired and I didn't really make any attempt to synchronize it all with the music
The only part I did sync was near the end with the huge blue explosion and the fire when you can see that lonely dude on top of that boat...I thought it looked so cool that that dude deserved a 'hero moment'! (at 08:50 min.)
I do very much like the music as well. It goes well wish the fireworks, oddly enough. =]
The show seems a lot more spectacular than the one they did for the united states' independence, in my town. <3333
Always love your vids.

Beautiful show, nice music - awesome clip as always Tom :)
I'm just wondering, if you also celebrate 18 June, here in Angers?
To remember of brave Rebels from 'guerres de Vendée' ?
Cheers

Thx, I tried keeping it as short as possible hoping it didn't grow boring, personaly I haven't heard of that celebration.
It could be they celebrate it in some parts of the country but I guess the anticipation of July 14th kind off over shadows it.
