Got mine today.
02 with 2500 miles.
I hit 90 today on the freeway.
Had to go for one quick midnight cruise before I went to bed.
I think I'm in love.

What handle bar are you using? I just bought a 02 Gs500 and need to change the bar asap!

Anyway I can make my gs500f look like a gs 500?
raverone100 4 months ago
@raverone100 - ABSOLUTELY! My bike started as an 'E', which is the naked version, but I tore off all the side fairings that it did have, and chopped some of the rear frame as well.
For the 'F' to become an 'E', you have to deal with the front fairing. There are lots of tutorials online... gstwin.com ...that will go through all the steps. I believe the only main part is to replace the headlight, but other than that, it's mostly just removing all the bracketry and fairing itself.

love your bike... cant wait to chop the tail on my 01 in the spring... did you relocate all the electrical stuff that was attached to the subframe to underneath the seat?

@elmnt4lfe127
Under the seat, under the tank, around the battery...pretty much anywhere that it would fit. I have a different battery than stock as well. One that can be on its side, so that helped move around some more wires, and other electrical components.

Nice bike I have a question though...I'm like 6'1 260lbs I was looking at a Kawasaki ninja 250 but i don't think that will work out well you think this bike can handle my size? I am a beginner so I'm a bit freaked out about learning on a 600cc bike though those could handle my size.help

@ShadowCoAirsoft
I think you'd be fine. It's not quite as small as the ninja 250, but it's not huge either. One thing though, you will probably want to change out the rear shock. The stock one is pretty soft, and doesn't give a good ride. I switched it out with a Katana 600 shock. You can crank this one up, so that it's really stiff, and supports your weight, as well as giving you a good quality and controlled ride.
