Pedro Menéndez de Avilés

Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, (Avilés, 1519 - Santander, 16 de septiembre de 1574), fue el primer gobernador español de Florida. Fundó la ciudad de San Agustín el 28 de agosto de 1565, el primer gran asentamiento europeo en los actuales Estados Unidos y Gobernador de la Isla de Cuba desde 1567 a 1574.

Yo flipo con tus videos XD. Me alegra pensar que existe gente que mira atras y de donde venimos, como algunos lucharon por levantar y dar honor a este pais. Que gran Personaje D. Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, del que tengo el gran honor de ser paisano suyo. Recomiendo leer su biografía. Con 20 años "limpió" el litoral Cantábrico de piratas y corsarios franceses e ingleses. Con 35 era Capitán General de la flota de Indias y, como bien se ha dicho anteriormente, quién sabe si su repentina muerte no le hubiese impedido mandar la Armada Española contra los ingleses, hoy se hubiese escrito otra historia....
