This series of conversations comes to an end with discussion about Elliott's experience writing with the "Bechdel Test" in mind (http://comicculturewarrior.wordpress.com/2010/05/26/does-your-favorite-comic-pass-the-bechdel-test/) and a rant about some comments made by Marvel Comics editor C.B. Cebulski and his taking exception to a blogger's criticism of Marvel. Do comic book readers have a right to criticize the business? Or should they just keep their opinions to themselves? Be sure to let us know YOUR OPINION here or on the CCW*TV BLOG! http://comicculturewarrior.wordpress.com

  • Oh poor Obama how dare he get criticized. Everyone knows if you don't like Obama you are a racist. You hate his half-black self.

  • @nadeau And if you don;t like Mark Millar's or Brian Bendis' books, you're a 'hater.' Oh, and if you criticized the previous administration you were 'unpatriotic' and potentially a 'terrorist.' Labels do so much to give some who dislike criticism so much, don't they? E.

  • @comicculturewarrior You're right about The Bush years. You're assuming that because I don't like Obama I'm a Republican, not true. The truth is Obama is pretty similar to Bush. Extention of Patriot Act, expanding the war , excessive spending that running up the debt, and on and on. The silly notion that there is a difference in the two major parties needs to stop. They'll want to oppress you in slightly different ways.

BTW, I do love your show with the politics. Take care.

  • @nadeau Nah. I assume nothing, cuz you know what happens when you ASSUME right? And I'm trying to stay away from the politics, but this was one of the rare videos when we talk about it. Thanks! Elliott

  • are you guys going to be at the Chicago ComicCon in August?

  • @jbeihl1 I won't be. Don't know about Elliott.

    J.

  • I'm guessing because some people find it easier to be blunt. People can agree to disagree, and still be civil.

The Dominos situation has shown that not all criticism is bad since it can lead to something better, or improvement.

  • I say if I'm buying your product and have been a loyal customer to the brand/product/company(ies) and or characters, then I have every right to critize it.

  • RE: the comics gods telling us we can’t criticize. They are arrogant & foolish. They have an audience that is opinionated & vocal cuz THEY CARE. As a person w/ business & marketing experience, I love feedback because it makes the product better & makes me better. Thin skinned pros need to grow the hell up.

  • I hate little PC, affirmative action-oriented litmus tests for writers. They nearly always place the creator's vision into a subservient position. If the writer's vision spontaneously, organically, authentically fulfills the criteria, then great. If it doesn’t, then should the writer’s instincts be chiseled down to fit PC notions of what’s acceptable?

  • You guys know you're stuff.
