years ago, I chatted with Brenda a few hours before she was to go on stage at one of her first night club gigs. Her throat was so sore she could almost not speak. I asked her if she would be lip-synching , "not on stage in a night club" was her reply. Hard for me to think of her lip-synching ever. But I think you are right, this must have been pre recorded. Look forward to seeing her sing 'Can't Help It ' if you are able to put it up on here.
Really great! is nice to think about how short Brenda Lee is...Dolly is very little (she say, never meet her)...i compare with Brenda! :)))))

@dazzlertyler Dolly is wearing very high heels. I think the video would have looked better without them. Brenda is only 1.45m . Dolly is about 5ft (1.51m).

Was Brenda about to sing more than her share of the singing of this great video?

Yes, but why does Brenda point up to explain why she almost goofed?

@Dollyparton1996 Finally got around to listening to the original and I think you are probably right. Brenda sang into Dolly's old vocal track for the record because RCA would not release Parton to re-record it. Brenda is probably miming Dolly's lines because thats how she did the recording. Dolly jokes with her about mouthing the line and Brenda jokes back that Dolly sang much higher in the 60s original.
