John McCains campaign has been hit by the DMCA. They have had some videos removed by Youtube, despite the fact that they fell within Fair Use. And they are pissed. McCains General Council, Trevor Potter, raises some good points in his letter to YouTube, but his proposed solution is elitist and unacceptable.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation discusses YouTubes takedown of some of John McCains videos due to DMCA complaints:

  • yep

  • Hi Hitman 47.

  • who's your daddy? yeahhhh!!!

  • Agreed.

  • You are by far the biggest female reproductive organ on youtube.

  • The masked idiot. What a nuckfut. I'm gonna copy this video.

  • Okay you're right and all Mr. Scary Mask Dude, but you should take off the scary mask, dude. Maybe people will take you seriously.

  • Too bad the voice of reason doesn't get much publicity in media or power in governmental decision making. For example EFFI wasn't even heard during latest overhaul of copyright and criminal laws in Finland... instead they decided to hear people like Save the Children, who have not IT expertize at all, and the came with rules that banned making of back-up copies of DVDs and decided to censor the internet for "child porn" (and ended up censoring w3(dot)org. How much FAIL was that?
