  • it's nice to know that some of you get off the base xD

  • When I was stationed in Okinawa, I couldn't miss any of these events. Each village/area tried to outdo the others and it was great competitive fun. Although I got laughed at a time or two when I tried my hand at the druming and dancing, it was all in good spirits and a lot of fun. Okinawans are some of the greatest folks in the world.

  • In the summer all the villages in Okinawa get together to perform Eisa literally meaning the ground. They celebrate to our ancestors and the Gods for a bountiful harvest. The young men and women in the village challenge each other at the Eisa competition.
