I'm in my 20s, been skating on and off for a few years, but I've finally found a) a private coach and b) the ability to commit more fully.
This video shows 'omg there's a camera, let me attempt to centre some one foot spins.' What I'm supposed to be working on during lessons are scratch, sit, camel, and combo spins. As I learned today it's much harder to skate in front of the camera - I found skating in front of the audience during the few ice shows I've done easier, lol!
I'm working on gaining more confidence in my jumps and learning my loop.
I show a couple waltzs, a cheated toe loop (this one makes me sad as I love this jump), a hated salchow, and several attempted loops. My coach told me I will be feeling silly doing these over and over, but actually it's fun. I like to do dozens of them and leave marks in the ice then move to the other hockey oval to work there. I feel that this one will be nice once I can get more confidence, speed, and power to fully rotate it.

  • @helin8r Cold Feet by The Weekend (a Canadian group which as far as I know is now defunct).

  • hwo much does your private instructor charge you?

  • @Kealohalofa The private lessons were through the university club so they were only $6 for 15 mins, plus once a week there was a free lesson as part of the club fees.

  • @jfluter same here! Ditto to all that you said!

  • When in doubt, it never hurts to bend your knees more, especially if you're tall. However, I think you're doing really well. :) What level are you skating at nowadays? I'm an adult skater as well (at 31) and will be starting the USA Ice Skating Institute Gamma/Delta level classes this fall. Basically, I'll be fine tuning mohawks, three turns, and inside/outside edges, Right now, mohawks are kicking my butt!
