Jennifer Siebel Newsom is a filmmaker, actress, spokesperson and advocate. She talks about how the media shapes our perceptions about gender and about our potential, calling on women and men to challenge the media and its male-dominated discourse, while empowering women to take on leadership positions.

TEDxWomen was curated and produced by The Paley Center for Media. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. Jennifer stands to have women represented equally as men, not only in the media but in government. She points out the way things are, and unfortunately the truth hurts. Women are thought to be less than men, that does not mean that all women hate men. It simply means that we live in a society that favors men and their success and caters to it unequally than it does women.

Its interesting that she mentions TV shows that are aimed at women audience. The first people who stigmatize women are women. It breaks my heart when kids are bullied, but they are most often bullied by same sex.

Of course sexism exists. So does racism. So does homophobia. It all exists. And it will all continue to exist. How about the Arab Middle Eastern Countire where women are VERY oppressed and no one says anything. I also see abuse toward woman being done by women themselves. Men are not all bad. Most are in fact love women and treat women with dignity and fairness.

As a man I marvel at how much women hate themselves and each other, and at the resentment they have towards men because they don't. 

People need to quit making this a fight between men and women and advocate for fair treatment for all people.

I think it's about time to start suing these deeply misandrist individuals with their "factoids". They spout many numbers that they know FULLY WELL to be manipulative or outright lies.

Many of the numbers Newscom spreads are designed to spread hatred and mistrust toward boys, like for example the "25% of girls suffer violence in relationships with boys".

NEWSCOM YOU ARE A DESPICABLE CREATURE. YOU ARE WILLING TO LIE AT THE EXPENSE OF demonizing boys. Karma will catch up with you though...
