@MrDjFtw Well, we (you and me) can work like hell for 24 hours per day for 100 years. But we will not be able to play like Kissin. So not only hard work, but enormous and uniquely exceptional talent is the thing. We do not have it.
@worras2007 I think that statement completely undermines the efforts and achievements of both Chopin and Kissin. They have dedicated their lives to this instrument and the study of music, spending thousands of hours in practice to be able to produce performances of this caliber. To imply that a divine candyman decided to snap his fingers and hand over this enormous amount of talent and experience in bulk is to fail to recognize the scope of human potential and hard work.
@worras2007 There have been musicians dotted through history that must have been god incarnate, purely because of their genius. J.S. Bach, Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Liszt, Debussy, Rachmaninov... some would argue, no, not Chopin, he was amazing but limited to piano. I disagree, he created beauty in abundance, and the ability to create beauty is one limited to a select few even amongst that list of geniuses. This is why we are lucky to have people like Kissin to deliver to us this pure beauty.
I think Chopin himself would like to hear that!!! And yes, I am not much religious, but when I listed to things created by people like Chopin, and performed like Kissin, I really believe the god sends such people to us from above.
