Here at Canon we've been working on our campaign for Freecording, shaking up old-school ideas of camcording and changing the way you film - seeing the action and adventure in the things you do every day.
We've put together some videos - mini-documentaries demonstrating what we think is the essence of Freecording. We've chosen a few sports that we think epitomise the movement. This one is a video we made in Berlin last month with Jürgen Horrwarth. Jürgen's a pro-skater who's competing at Freestyle (www.freestyle) in Zurich at the end of September. We partnered with him in the run up to the comp and put together this film to look at the importance of video to the community and see what freecording means to a legend of the skate scene.
We headed out to Jürgen's local park in Friedrichshain with Jon Drever and Fraser Byrne - skate film-makers from Grain Media - and spent the day following Jürgen as he prepared for freestyle.ch. He showed us around the area, demo'ing his street skills, then put himself to work on the bowl and vert ramp, filming himself then getting some help from fellow pro, Mack McKelton. You can see the film he made with one of our HF10s here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0oi9kX3E6E
