i'm amazed not only by the artists you film, but also by the fact you got so many of them to cooperate, props to you! most artists i've met would be anywhere from strongly hesitant to straightout paranoid or even hostile, no matter how polite and respectful one would try. i think it must be the atmosphere of the place...here the artists must live together side by side, but outside such areas one encounters a lot of stuck up and secretive unsympathetic reactions.

@heirihunziker The artists at Montmartre are in the public eye every single day.They are used to being scrutinized,filmed and photographed every single day.As far as a portraitist is concerned the bigger the crowd,the more chance there is of 'enchainment' i.e: a 'follow-up client'.I have the advantage of being one of the gang,and the artists know I would never do anything to betray their trust.There are a few,a handful, who are a little camera shy...but you have to respect that.

Do these artists get paid for doing these portraits? What is the average price range?

@shysterlicious For colour portraits like this,about1OO euros.For monochrome around 50 euros.
