Our goal is to construct a building for the local Primary School consisting of three classrooms. Currently, the students are taught in classrooms made of corn stalks with dirt floors and desks that are in serious disrepair. As the school consists of four grade levels of 101 students, it qualifies as an official school yet each year, for the past six years since its founding, the school is neglected and government funding is delayed until the next year. In a country where it is not yet possible for every child to be educated due to schools being inaccessible, the villagers are aware of how special their school is and how fortunate they are to be able to give their children an education from well trained educators. All they lack is a safe, clean, comfortable learning space. Although they do not have the financial resources to achieve this on their own, the community has pledged to contribute a considerable amount of materials and labor.
Thank you for watching.

Yes! It got completely funded. However, they haven't finished building it. The rains began and they had to be in the fields all day. Things will start slowing down soon and they will finish. All it needs is the roof. Will post pictures when it is completed! And thanks for your interest!

That's a negative attitude. People get raped, mugged and killed here in the states. Being a Peace Corps Volunteer is VERY safe.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
peace corps girls are getting raped and murdered in Africa. Why risk your life? why would you put your family or loved ones through hell? why Africa has no solution... there is plenty of good to do here in the U.S or Europe, your country needs you, stay safe, stay in US
