Hillel: A Humanistic Fundamentalist

Hillel's family has lived in Jerusalem for at least eight generations. His great grandmother told him of the cordial relations that prevailed between Muslims and Jews in the old city of Jerusalem. Jewish and Muslim mothers babysat for each others children and Muslim teenagers stood up if an elderly Jew walked by. All that changed when it became clear to the Arabs that the new waves of Jewish arrivals had not come to settle quietly but to create their own state. During his teenage years growing up in the most ultra-Orthodox neighborhood of Jerusalem Hillel was a relentless activist against Zionism. Initially his opposition was purely based on theology. He felt a Jewish state before the advent of the Messiah was an act of rebellion against God who had ordained exile for Jews. As part of his activism he initiated and made contacts with Palestinian political leaders, which was illegal at the time. These contacts became increasingly warm and friendly and opened his eyes to seeing the humanity of the Palestinians. When the Israeli government registered the birth to his first child he felt he could not continue his anti-Zionist activities while accepting health and social benefits from the Jewish state. He therefore began a self-imposed exile in the United States that has lasted over 35 years. He became active in the American branch of Neturei Karta, an ultra-Orthodox group who shared his anti-Zionism. Over the years he has tried to infuse the group to his humanistic approach to religious anti-Zionism. When confronted with biblical or Talmudic statements which disparage non-Jews Hillel tells us he would rather have many unanswered questions about the sacred texts than have even one questions about Gods love for all of humanity.

Well, since we know all the scriptures are just fabrications, or stolen from other cultures, there is no credibility to the god they just made up to suit themselves.

Still, if we are crazy enough to read it, their book says it is okay for Jews to kill or to enslave everyone else.

That means they have been conducting a covert war against all other religions since they first came into existence, about 1700 years ago.

The part of my comment...Ever see the movie Mars Attacks? ...I thought, made it clear enough that it was a movie, but as you seem to feel it necessary to point it out redundantly, I should remind you that throughout the movie, the Martians repeatedly negotiate peace. And every time they shake hands on it and everybody is smiling, they break out the rayguns and kill everybody.
