400 ft reel of 16 mm movie film
Various locations in Egypt
From Former Tour Manager at Glensheen, now Executive Director at the Becker County Historical Society and Museum in Detroit Lakes
* The first stop shown is the Temple of Ramses II at Luxor. Ramses II reigned from 1290-1224 BCE (also sometimes shown as 1279-1213 BCE, depending on your source) in the New Kingdom period of ancient Egyptian history, often called the 19th Dynasty.

* The building that appears at 1:36 is the mosque of Sufi Shaykh Yusuf Abu al-Hajjaj.
* The Sacred Lake provided water for the priests' ablutions (washing of oneself for ceremonial purposes) and other temple requirements.
* Pylon: at 4:03, they are entering the main pylon, or entryway, to the Temple of Amun. This is sometimes known as the "Bubastite Portal".
* Valley of the Kings
Beginning at 5:10, they are crossing the Nile and moving toward what is now know as the "Valley of the Kings". Beginning with the 18th Dynasty, royal burials were done in this low gully or valley in Thebes.
* King Tut's Tomb
After this discovery, "Egyptomania" began and everyone wanted a piece of the excitement! There are several things in the house (Glensheen) that reflect this interest...I believe some prints, quite a few books, etc. Art Nouveau (like Helen's Room) often reflected this kind of decorative pattern that is found in Egypt...flattened shapes, elongated floral/leafy patterns, the use of gold and geometric shapes, scarabs (beetles) in jewelry, etc.
This video must be POST 1922, because King Tut's tomb was discovered by Howard Carter in November of that year. *It took Carter and company 10 years to clear out the tomb, so this could help us date it to POST 1933 (no tourists were allowed in prior)
*Funerary Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir-el-Bahri
Hatshepsut (identified as Hatasu in this film) is buried in the "valley of the kings" (and queens) along the west bank of the Nile. Here funerary temple, seen here at 8:28, is located 1⁄2 mile away.
* Ramesseum
At 10:17, they visit the Ramesseum, which is the mortuary temple of Ramses II (called Ramases in the film). The statue seen in the film is the fallen collasus (collasal statue) of Ramses II. Standing 62 feet high and weighing 1000 tons, it was said that this stone was transported 170 miles over land. It included 2 pylons (gateways...one seen at 10:42), a hypostyle hall, and a sanctuary.
* Colossi of Memnon
The Colossi of Memnon, commonly referred to as es- Salamat and el-Colossat, are two large stone statues. Created sometime in the 14th century, the stone statues are of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III.
