Copyright In The Book Of Kells? On Saturday 26th of March 2011, I interviewed the Irish writer and copyright lawyer Ronan Sheehan about Trinity College's application for a trademark on the words "Book Of Kells". ; He learned about this from a Sunday Independent article on 20th March.... Kells bells! TCD puts ancient book's name to beer http://www.independent.ie/national-news/kells-bells-tcd-puts-ancient-books-na... Information on the trademark application..http://www.markify.com/trademarks/ctm/book+of+kells/009701269 This interview is a prequel of sorts to a documentary; "Colmcille's Copybook" which is about what is likely the world's first copyright case and how this compares with the copyright battles of these days in the information age... for more info please visithttp://www.tarasaga.com/news (this is the home of a transmedia documentary project, "Tara Saga", about activism in Ireland and the above is a side project of this) - Mark O' Cúlar 31th March 2011
i sure hope they don't get a copyright. because it is a national treasure of the irish, but it originally was written and owned by the local church people. not necessarily the roman church, but the local monks order who wrote and illustrated it. So, may God's will be done, and i hope it will be allowed to benefit all believers not just Trinity college which did not write nor originally publish it, nor name it in the first place. talk about usurpation.
