I have heard several tenors sing this aria but no one melts me and gets to my soul the way Carreras did.

In this particular concert - and I've heard Josep Carreras a thousand times he is having one of those "I'm 100% in control of every moment of

my voice" days. He is always passionate and divine. But today his voice is PERFECT. Beverly Sills in an interview says in fond memory of one particular night where she sang this PERFECT easy high D. She

said "I didn't know where it came from, and I didn't want to let go. I just kept it coming." That is Josep throughout this ENTIRE concert.

I've heard this aria (Donna non vidi mai)song by almost every famous tenor... and in my humble opinion, Carrera's interpretation is just excellent!!!

El maestro mostraba ya los defectos técnicos que, junto con su enfermedad, acabarían arruinando su voz. De todas formas, qué derroche de facultades y de entrega. Esta interpretación del aria del Manon Lescaut le valdría, por sí sola, una plaza entre los mejores tenores de la historia. Bravissimo, maestro. El timbre, por supuesto, bellísimo, y la zona media y grave, sencillamente de ensueño.
