My buddies & I, Bomber & Murph went up to Lake Delton in Wisconsin on Saturday and left Sunday. We wanted to see the damage that the draining lake had done. We also planned to get in some metal detecting while we were there. Once we got there we were blown away at the damage. We got a room just feet from the lake; it looked like a bomb went off. All that was left was dried and cracking mud. We hunted for a couple of hours then called it quits, finding mostly lead fishing weights, and metal scrap.
Talking to the locals, they said the lake drained in about 2 hours!!! They also pointed us to where they think the most coins would be. We didn't find much, but the trip was definitely worth it. My thoughts and prayers go out to the whole town; on the news they said that the $1 billion tourism industry is gone. The locals are hoping that the lake will be repaired and back to normal by next year. God I hope so...
I totally would have been out there checking out the houses in closer detail.

@Joseph9536 From what I was reading on other videos on this, they had gotten 12 inches of rain and either it was running over the dam or they were letting it out but then a levee broke and water went rushing out, taking four houses with it.

Does anyone know what caused the lake to drain?

It costed Wisconsin residents 3 million dollars to repair Lake Delton. I remember going to Lake Delton as a child and the thought of not taking my children disturbs me. I think I speak for just about anyone that has been there... that 3 million was the best spent money WI has EVER spent!

Thanks for posting this. My wife, daughter, and I spent a few summers in the Dells in years past. The Tommy Barlett Show and The Ducks were always part of the fun. Hope it gets restored for the next generation to enjoy.
