The Chrysler Pentastar engine family is a series of aluminium dual overhead cam V-6 engines scheduled to debut for model-year 2011 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles. Chrysler has announced details, including the investment in plants ($2 billion, not including engineering of the engines themselves) and the fact that Daimler will share the basic engine architecture. The engine was initially named "Phoenix", but the name was changed before the official launch due to a trademark conflict.
@MrXAVIERDB If you want something to replace the gasoline engine invent it yourself.

Dear Chrysler,
Keep making the Jeep Liberty past 2012, and install this new engine. Us 4x4'ers want a better engine for the off-road wagon, with better mpg's.

Just bought a 2012 Wrangler sport on 8/20/11 with this new engine and 6 speed manual. What a great set up. Only have 500 miles on it and it is getting around 22mpg and has great power.

What they need is the 5.7 or 6.1 HEMI standard in a wrangler, then we wouldnt have to go out and spend damn near $20,000 to put one in ourselfs!
But at least this is an upgrade...I hate the 3.8l that are in the current JK. Im trading in the 2 door for an unlimited in 2012, props on the new upgrade.
