Lol.. Yeah.. I remember when this whole thing started... We played it at every football game.. It kinda morphed over the years into a punk rock sounding version.. Me and Jordan were jus messing around on the bass drums one day.. I thought the fillers were getting pretty lame.. I remember the lion dance from August Ahrens that Mr. Chun's class used to almost every year.. It had a catchy beat to it so I figured y not try it out with the drumline.. And low and behold... It's still going on till th
Then they started playing it at football games and the brass section thought it would be funny to do a dragon/ lion dance line. Then when played later on, the woodwinds decided to jump in too. Then cheerleaders joined in, then people from the audience.
Nowadays i dont jump in cuz i dont wanna get red dirt all over my clothes LOL.
The lion/ dragon dance at waipahu high homecoming started during the 2001 football season. At that time it wasnt just a "homecoming thing". The band didnt really had a solid "drumline" at the time so Len Tanaka w/ Jordan Demesillo made up a group with members from other section. This was one of the fillers that just came up.
