Parts One-Seven: In this clip, Dr. Cousins tells about his experience with the Birla family, a big supporter of Mahatma Gandhi during the transformation of India under the British Raj. He also shares about his time in India and visit to the Burning Ghats—where bodies are cremated. Dr. Cousins was a "tribe unto himsef"—someone who embodied global consciousness and multiple doors to the sacred.

ABOUT DR. EWERT H. COUSINS

The late Dr. Ewert H. Cousins was Advisor to both the United Nations on issues related to Global Spirituality and also the Vatican Interreligious Dialogue Council for more than 40 years. His teachings engaged more than 500 scholars across the globe. His major project was World Spirituality and he spent a lifetime formulating his hypothesis about a Second Axial Age "dawning in our times." He was General Editor-In-Chief of the Encyclopedia of the World's Religious Quest and also the Classics of Western Spirituality. In the book Doors of Understanding Conversations on Global Spirituality in Honor of Dr. Ewert Cousins, one of the foremost proponents of inter-religious dialogue Dr. Raimon Pannikar suggests that many believed Dr. Cousins had a "master key." Panikarr writes that Dr. Cousins was someone who had discovered "the secret of the Grail lies within as much as without."
