Sabar - the fantastic Senegalese Master Sabar Player and Griot, Modou Diouf


Modou had just finished his class when we met up and he kindly agreed to put down a three part rhythm -- all to click.

It's a Senegalese rhythm called something like' Nyarigorum'.

I'd lost the headphones by this time and he had to play along to the metronome clicktrack out loud. The beeps are very audible - sorry. Next time I'll do a better job...

I never thought he'd be able to do it. I didn't tell him what metronome beep the 1 was on...

How cool is Modou?! He as chummy as heck and an amazing drummer! A lovely man.
