This totally misses the point - the clip is not about the travel lodge at all, it's a comedic attack on older comedians who make a living by acting miserable over mundane situations, SUCH AS staying in a travel lodge.

Thus, by only showing this one isolated clip of Lee ranting about the travel lodge, the viewer is denied it's intended meaning; the sketch is meant to be a satirical attack on the bland Jack Dee style comedians who make these kind of sketches in the first place! The irony.

It's more of a reaction to a Frankie Boyle comment. Frankie said that comedians loose their edge after the hit 40. Lee is being edgy about the most mundane thing comedians can talk about, life in hotels.

And he's being incredibly funny also.

Recently, there was a top 100 standups show, aired in america. Ellen DeGeneres made the top 20. Stewart Lee did not.
