In the films, Legolas wears blue contact lenses, but in some scenes he does not have them in.

@Brandon5l9 Peter Jackson intended that. But, he thought that it would undermine the true meaning of the battle: to give Frodo and Sam more time. The battle was for frodo and sam and Jackson thought that giving the big good guy v. bad guy duel to aragorn would take away from it.

Would not have worked in the movie. Although in the book, aragorn does see sauron as he once was ("giver of gifts" form he used to trick the elves), he does not actually fight with him or anything, he sees him then the vision vanishes.
