  • LG! Best damn slide player in rock! EVER! All other slide players just riff off the standard Elmore James style. Which is fine. No disrespect to Duane Allman, but this guy reinvented the whole approach, which no one other than say ,George Harrison took to heart. That is, playing outside the box and following the melody. And it's just so damn greasy!

  • I'll never take the R&R hall of fame seriously until Little Feat are inducted...they were the best. Period.

  • his slide was a Craftsman spark plug socket, heavy and solid like his work!

  • Hi RubHerSoul1

I totally agree with you - and I also say I mean no disrespect to Duane Allman - Lowell George was THE MAN. His influence on George Harrison had not occurred to me but yes - of course!

Sonny Landreth, Bonnie Raitt and Derek Trucks are playing great slide guitar music these days but Lowell is still the man for me.

My thanks to JeffSq for this posting, which took me right back to The Odeon, Birmingham (England) 1976....

  • @DrunkOnPoppySeeds Best comment on here! Terrorizing those strings...

  • @wolfgarcia This song alone should put them in. It's the work of a true musical genius.

    Country with a boogie beat....

    What's better than that?

  • Recorded on my 22 birthday...I had.just discovered the Feat....Saw them twice with Lowell.....First at Shryock Auditorium in Carbondale Il, then at the Fox in StLouis. 2 of the best nights in my life..Look..Lowell was a great singer /writer/arranger/slide guitar player...But Duane was special too... two of my favorite musicians.Interesting that Kenny Gradney, Sam Clayton and possibly Richie Hayward also played for Delaney and Bonnie as did Duane and the rest of the Dominos.D&B not in RARHOF???

  • You have to listen to Sonny Landreth He is a great slide guitarist Do not forget Johhny Winter There are great ones no greatest. Wolfgarcia and I are in the same thought That rock hall was never bonafide as they ignored Feat and...Doobies,Los Lobos, Tower of Power, Steve Miller,PR & the Raiders. Instead the losers induct U2, Iggy Poop, The Cure, Rap and other clownery.

  • Sweet memories of a 3-day stand Feats played at the Warner Theatre in Wash DC in the mid-70s (anyone who remembers it pls sing in!). Thanks to WHFS they were huge in DC. I remember their show as being the best live performance I ever saw -- and I saw a few. the air was so thick with marijuana smoke you could cut it with a knife, people were walking around with sniffly noses, and the gent I went with consumed an entire pint of Wild Turkey. Cat Fish Hodge opened and Cerphe MCed. Great days.

  • @ljchipr Actually, It was more the other way around. Recently downloaded a live broadcast of Bonnie Raitt on this same radio station on 10/17/72. Lowell flew in from LA to play slide on the broadcast. There is a cut where Bonnie sings "Can't find my way home" and Lowell comes in on slide. It gave me goosebumps, his sound was so good. Just before they do the song, Bonnie tells the audience they had only ever played together an hour in their whole lives. Oh, and she makes a pass at him too!

  • Don't worry Little Feat, I'm 18 years old and LOVE your music!!! (I'm born in the wrong generation)

  • I always thought Lowell might be in the Taliban
