I see what you're saying, but I think a better message (since we can't move to Russia) would be vote based on your beliefs. We always vote for the most poplar candidate that we don't totally hate that might have chance at winning. Folks feel that voting for write-in Green, Libertarian, or The Rent's Too Damn High candidates is a "wasted vote." If we actually voted for who we believed in, not who we thought was the most electable candidate (what does that even mean? bland, a pushover?)....

well the agree with most of what you are saying big dawg but there is a flaw with all of it if "we" and we i mean "america" decided to just say fuck the donkey and elephant and go down the middle without making a big fuss in public they wouldnt see it coming therefore we could elect elmo with me wanted too but the zombie population is blind and we will continue to be zombie if we dont do something!
(See Part 1 first), I believe elections would be a lot different and we would end up with people in charge who also vote according to their beliefs and in what they believe is the best interest for the people who voted them in. Do you really think all Republicans hate gay people? Probably not, but the rich contributors who funded their campaign sure do. I doubt this will ever be the case since coming up with a good write-in alternative takes some work and research, but we can hope.

So long as the electoral college is in place and our elections aren't solely based on the popular vote, I really don't see a need to play along with the bull shit. Also we would need a system in place for more candidates to receive face time on television, not just the partisan party nominees or the independents who can afford the air time.

@OfTaoAndDoom How do you feel about Senators being voted in by popular vote? They originally were supposed to be voted in by the state congress, presumably so you would give a crap about your state representatives. I'm not trying to make a point.. just curious.

@cthebirney I think all government officials should be elected solely on the popular vote. I also think they should be paid significantly less and we should hold elections more often with second and third terms only being possible if they are non consecutive.

I'm tired of American politics being a power struggle amongst wealthy secretive narcissists. Steps should be taken to give power directly to the people. Steps should also be taken to educate the masses on political issues so people can cast more informed votes.
