Last week I was very surprised when I was told that I was one of 37 people globally who'd won the African Achiever of The Year Award.

Why me & What for? were two natural questions I asked myself.

Then I was told it was for my contribution around the world and for entertaining and sharing my gift with people of all walks of life.

To say I'm blown away is an understatement. I simply do what i love to do and hopefully share my passion in a way that enables you to benefit from the Djembe drum as I have done.

Congratulations Lamin, Its interesting Gambians see ourselves as world people.

How I wish ordinary people like ourselves take lesson from your story and background (Gambians in particular before its forever late).

my Dad didn't get decent congrats from our key people when he won the Kora award attended by Mandela and the late MJ in South Africa (Badou Jobe of ifang Bondi). Likewise there's no clip of our "under 21" soccer youths that beat brazil in peru (no youtube news) either. Keep in up.
