Despite the poor lighting, this short film from eleven-year old Thibault Guy captures perfectly that spontaneity which is the hallmark of the annual guitar evenings at the Latitude Study Center in La Toulzanie, in the Lot Valley, France. The duo Mark Newman & Michel Griffin are joined by Patrick Portalès, whose lead-guitar work adds so much to this version of Blind Blake's immortal classic. The coming weeks will see more cuts published from a memorable jam-session.

You can find out more about Mark Newman on http://www.obm.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/mark_biog.htm and about Latitude from http://www.latitude.org

And you can download loads more music and videos from http://www.MichelGriffin.com

You can catch Michel & Mark in action every month at the Cahors Folk Club - see the 'Concerts' page on www.MichelGriffin.com for details.

Here are the words to Diddie Wah Diddie (or Diddy Wa Diddy) :

There's a great big mystery, and it sure is worryin' me.
This Diddie Wah Diddie, this Diddie Wah Diddie.
I wish somebody would tell me what
Diddie Wah Diddie means.

Had a little girl about four foot four, she said
"C'mon papa won't ya give me some more
of your Diddie Wah Diddie, of your Diddie Wah Diddie."
I wish somebody would tell me what
Diddie Wah Diddie means.

I went out and walked around.
Somebody yelled, "Look who's in town.
Mister Diddie Wah Diddie, Mister Diddie Wah Diddie."
I wish somebody would tell me what
Diddie Wah Diddie means.

I went to church, put my hat on the seat,
Lady sat on it, said "Daddy you sure is sweet,
Mister Diddie Wah Diddie, Mister Diddie Wah Diddie."
I wish somebody would tell me what
Diddie Wah Diddie means.

I said, "Sister, I'll soon be gone,
Just gimme that thing you're sittin' on.
My Diddie Wah Diddie, my Diddie Wah Diddie."
I wish somebody would tell me what
Diddie Wah Diddie means.

Then I got put out of church,
'Cause I talk about Diddie Wah Diddie too much.
Mister Diddie Wah Diddie, Mister Diddie Wah Diddie.
I wish somebody would tell me what
Diddie Wa Diddie means.

  • Great stuff! Really enjoyed it.

  • Looks like great fun, Michel. Cheers Self Tort

  • Nice one Michel.

  • C'est trop rigolo !

  • Loved the impromptu key change. Yes, that's happened to me before too. Great fun.

    Take care,

    Ron
