Continued,Any genuine legitimate gas safe registered engineer would have done a tightness test once the cooker was reconnected and would not leave the property until he was satisfied that there was no gas leak present round the fitting and the pipe.

I think that some of these comments are way out of order and after all this was a terrible incident in which very luckily nobody got killed,and it was an incident that should NEVER have happened,and if the rumour that I have heard is true(the rumour being that the cooker was reconnected by someone who wasn't gas safe registered)then that person will get fucked.I by the way am a gas safe registered engineer and a gas tightness test should have been done when it was reconnected.
