Skincare Routine

I'm going to throw this out there, since I'm apparently failing to keep my skin clear of breakouts: the only thing that ever stopped my breakouts was taking oral birth control. Seriously, some of us are just unlucky in the hormone department, and if that's the case, no lotion or other topical product is going to stop acne.

It's not the breakouts that bother me so much as the value judgments that people pass. Some assume the acne-prone are just not working hard enough to "fight" the way our skin works, or that we don't wash often enough, or aren't using the right products. This is partly because of marketing, and people who believe that are perpetuating the B.S. that cosmetic manufacturers are spewing. Remember, they're all just trying to sell a product.

What I use is just what works for me, to be comfortable. To have skin that's clean, not tight or flaky, not greasy or irritated.

My skin has been a mess since I was a teenager (and I'm way past that now). Sometimes it clears up for months or a year but it always turns bad after awhile. Do whatever works. With me I'm pretty sure I can't blame it on hormones. :>)
