Will I be able to take a train to Disney?
Providing transit alternatives to move residents and visitors efficiently and effectively within and between regions is essential to our economy as well as to building connectivity within our state. With the potential for a high speed rail connection to Orlando, its even more important that Hillsborough County have light rail transit service to connect to local destinations.
As we build a more robust transit system, connections in the Tampa Bay region and east to the Orlando area will become even more important.
We think that transit is a critical element of the future of our community. Its something thats very important; it needs to be tied to land use, and to economic development, and to the environment, so that we have truly inter-modal solutions and multi-modal solutions to our transportation and to our transit needs for our entire Tampa Bay region.
The Hillsborough MPO, along with TBARTA, the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority, and the Florida Department of Transportation, will coordinate local and regional plans so they link seamlessly as each county comes on board.
