He says that he won. I believe in some way, he did win the City of Laguna Hills Memorial Day Half Marathon & 5K 2010. Since 1998 for nearly 12 years, my father has had Huntington's Disease a terminal illness as if tragic diseases like Parkinson's Disease and Alzheimer's met and had a baby. That's just my opinion, but the symptom's are similar. He deals with Chorea, which is the shaking uncontrollably of muscles. He deals with memory loss, motor functions, brain cognition, and health issues that would rival a family of five's monthly shopping lists.
That aside, he's still consistently finds ways to smile, and enjoy all the things we sometimes take for granted.
He has always been a runner as a high school track and field star. He has had his name and picture in the paper, and even was blessed with carrying the Olympic torch through Long Beach, Ca. during the 1984 Olympics. He loves to run. He does this type of run around his neighborhood 6 days a week.
I wanted to share this inspirational video with you all, for a chance to see that any unfortunate event or obstacle that lands in your lap, only slows you down, it never stops you from what you will accomplish.
Both my father and I wanted to thank everyone who were running on memorial day and those that ran with us as we all headed towards the same goal. May you always run towards something, and never from anything.

  • Amazing Video! Props To Your Father For Finishing The Race!

Very Inspartion Video! Shows That Nothing Is Imposible... :)

  • @bluekodzic Thank you very much. He constantly inspires me to just take that first step, and the rest will follow.

  • Great, this is really something to stop and think about, we can do everything.

    this guy is great.

  • @JohnnysSaloonHB Thank you soo much. I will pass that along to him.

He is one of the reasons I get up in the morning. If he can do it, I should do less complaining and more doing.

  • Though its only 5K, though his timing its only 1:38 mins.. though he never run... only walk.. but given his condition... his alot more better and stronger than others ... who don even dare to start take their 1st step. Its all about determination... Thumbs up for him...

  • @zellking79 In his mind he is running. He has been in and out of skilled nursing facilities, because he keeps getting better, and regressing somewhat. He has always had a strong mind, and I believe you're absolutely right. It is all about determination and the will.

  • Well done,very inspirational xx

  • great job! Yes, he is a runner! He has the D-tag on his shoes and a number bib. And he finished the race. Running is not always being the fastest...it is putting yourself on the starting line and finishing the race. awesome! He may have come in last, but he is a winner. He beat the distance and finished!!! big thumbs up!!
