Weather forecast and weather related English vocabulary with exercises.

This video shows and describes some common weather conditions and situations that can be applied in everyday conversations (e.g. rain, snow, sun, clouds, etc) as well as the related words like temperature, Celsius, thermometer etc.

What is the weather like today?

Ukraine Weather Forecast
In the South, it will be sunny.
The temperature will rise up to 18 degrees Celsius.

In the West it will be snowy.
The temperature will drop down to minus 5 degrees Celsius.

In the East it will be stormy.
We expect thunderstorms during the whole day.
The temperature remains the same, 8 degrees above zero.

In the North of the country and in Kyiv we expect some rains in the morning.
The rest of the day will be sunny, though some showers are possible.
The temperature will drop from 9 to 7 degrees Celsius.

In the center the weather will be sunny and partly cloudy.
The temperature will reach 10 degrees above zero.

The weather can be windy.
A day can be rainy and wet.
When it snows, it's snowy.

There is no bad weather, only bad clothes.

These are the words:
weather forecast -- a description of what the weather will be in the future, based on the information that you have now;
sun -- the large bright object in the sky that gives us light and heat, and around which the Earth moves;
snow -- small soft white pieces of ice that fall from the sky in cold weather;

A saying "It's snowy", "a snowy day/ winter" means "there is a lot of snow".

storm -- very bad weather when there is a lot of rain or snow, strong winds, and often lightning;
thunder -- the loud noise that you hear during a storm, usually after lightning;
thunderstorm -- a storm with thunder and lightning;
lightning -- a flash of light in the sky;
rain -- water that falls in drops from clouds in the sky;

It's cloudy.

clouds -- a white or grey mass of very small drops of water in the sky;
When there are a lot of clouds, we say "It's cloudy".
temperature -- a measure of how cold or hot a place or thing is;
thermometer -- a piece of equipment that measures temperature;
degrees Celsius -- a unit for measuring temperature at a scale in which water freezes at 0'and boils at 100';
temperature rises -- changes from lower to higher;
temperature drops -- changes from higher to lower;

In the United Kingdom the temperature falls to 7 degrees Celsius. It's raining.

In Germany the temperature rises to 10 degrees Celsius. The weather is sunny.

In France the temperature remains the same, 10 degrees Celsius. The weather is partly cloudy.

In Ukraine the temperature rises to 17 degrees Celsius. In the South the weather is sunny! In the North there are some thunderstorms.
