In a new series for ITV4, notorious soccer hardman Vinnie Jones takes us on a tour around some of the world's most extreme crime hotspots. Vinnie Jones' Toughest Cops promises to reveal how officers have adapted to deal with these severe acts, everything from police homicides in Jamaica to cocaine busts in Colombia. Intrigued, and just a wee bit nervous, we give Mr. Jones a bell to find out more.

What's Toughest Cops all about?
"You see the lives of these real cops and how they're dealing with [trouble]. It's fight fire with fire, a case of 'you shoot at us, we're going to shoot at you'. The footage is shocking. On the next street corner to where our crew were filming, people were getting shot and the cops had to deal with that. It's incredible."

Are you there as well?
"No, not in this series. If this goes well I will be doing exactly that - getting out there on the frontline - in the next series."

Did watching the footage change any of your perceptions?
"Absolutely, this will open the eyes of a lot of people. Some of the stuff [we filmed] you would think is fit for the army, not the local coppers."

Do you think it's right that cops should be fighting back?
"People watching this will definitely say 'our coppers should take a leaf out of their book'. It really is the way to deal with criminals and with people taking the piss out of society."

How could you apply that in our country?
"I live in America and if the cops pull you over, you crap yourself. There's a regard there that cops are the law. You see coppers here having to face some of these so-called petty criminals, and they're giving them all the mouth: 'We know our rights', this that and the other. They should be dealt with properly, you know what I mean?"

This made our police look like America's weakest cops...this episode wasn't very interesting & did not involve much drama...though I do not condone violence, I saw more at 10 years old than this "toughest cops" episode showcased...and that guy thought his few days was something...wow.

I hope the rest of America wasn't bored looking at my city because I wasn't impressed.

I'm actually glad the city is getting better, but if you are going to have a "tough" show, it should show a little toughness.

Cool. I'll tune in to other episodes.

I wonder why they wouldn't film this show by Johns Hopkins the most. That East Baltimore area by one of the nation's most iconic hospitals is ironically 1 of the worse areas in the city. The hospital is right there in the heart of the violent zone...I'm truly shocked that they didn't do more East Baltimore action. Maybe they thought it was too dangerous for tv, I don't know. Baffled.

I don't like violence but this show is very intriguing.

Grew up IN it, Know it, Lived it, all of us aren't foolish tho some of us actually chose to go a different route, (e,g. ME) ill be graduating with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. So don't imply that the streets of Baltimore only produces this! I have close friends who are in a rut, stuck living that life & I have close friends who chose otherwise like me. It's all in what you make of it.

I will tell you from logic... The smaller the space the more connected you are to your town, the larger the space the more you are connected to your neighborhood (not city area).

Many of us Baltimoreans live the same day you live, the difference is we connect within our street block, or where I live in Cherry Hill (Baltimore), we sit almost "islandic" around water so we are connected like your town. The east- and west-sides are more territorial where streets separate communities, like boxes.

Once again, violent crimes in the city is related to rival drug dealers or dealers vs. their own distributors. The city council taunt residents for not being vigilant, but yet the correction officers within the system help felons continue the same thing from behind bars... BELIEVE ME!!

All in all, no part of "The Proud United States of America" is the safest. Look in reality, the country is vulnerable from within itself, not from some small Middle East antagonists.

I live in a town where there's hardly any crime. I never knew there could be this much crime in a city.

Keep working at it and you'll find your way out of there. I lived in Bmore most of my life and I get your urge to leave. I got arrested there and it seemed as if that city would swallow me up and destroy me. Now I live in the mountains of NC. Instead of sirens, I go to bed with the sounds of owls and coyotes. Instead of worrying about my neighbors trying to rob me, I worry if I can reciprocate all the kindness they've shown me. Being poor in the country is better than being rich in the city.
