I had a 2004 MG ZR 2.0 TD, had awfull trouble with the car. Used to have to rev it very loudly once starting no matter what what conditions, then it always cut out coming upto traffic lights and the electrics were horrendus altogether

sometimes you have to give the diesels a good rev on startup or they just cut out, if you have it a 3000 rpm for around 5 seconds it will run sweetly, this is in cold weather ofcourse?

It is for a diesel exhaust gas recirculation

thats the badest idea i ever seen nobody can tell you whats with your car without seeing it it could be fuelfilters, crankshaftsensor, pump, bad fuel, ......
-
MAF ?
-
crankshaft sensor 100 %
-
Bad quality of fuel...

They are a very good engine, based on the old prima diesel of the 80s, which was in turn based on the o,m and t series Rover petrol engines.... They in turn were based on the B series engine...
-
that's what our lhs does
I say from experience it needs new glow plugs and let it warm up a bit.
