Castlevania, the original classic that started the entire Castlevania franchise. The Castlevania games have a cult following and from playing this one through again...I can see why. This first came to Japan in 1986 and of course was released for the NES. One of the things I loved about this game is that it keeps things simple, just what any decent platformer game from the mid 1980s should be like. The idea of just jumping and fighting your way through each stage is great. Just none stop action and of course, each stage has a boss, beat it and on you go to the next part. Nice, simple and fun!
Stage 1 - Good stage to learn the controls and get grips with the game. Though it is generally easy, it is possible to use lives up if you mistime a jump or are not sure what the best method of beating the boss is. The stage is actually the entrance hall of the castle and it is at ground level, of course you have to make your way to the top in order for your final fight with Dracula. All you need to do is make your way through, beat off various low level enemies and then it is onto the boss. This happens to be a vampire bat, can be hard to hit without the axe, so it is best to get that. It makes it possible to attack from below, whilst keeping Simon out of harms way.
OMG thankk you for putting this in HD!

Excellent game, so much like Master of Darkness for the Sega Master System (though I preferred that game).
