I've just bought TrackIR 4.0 and waiting delivery. I too fly the LVL-D most of the time, can you tell me, when you are going behind the seats and can see their backs is that using TIR and is it just a case of moving yourself closer or further from the screen and then left or right?

I move the point of view backwards by using the default FS keys, then it's like I'm sitting in the observers seat.

So, going back and forth with the TIR won't result in the same on-screen result?
Also do you need to do the same with the FS keys to gp left and right?

Typically , you'll want to set up your trackir so that you can move your head from and back, side to side to take advantage of the instrumentation and panels. But if you increase the settings, you can move your chair back and eventually end up in the observer seats, or slide your chair left and right to go to copilot asuming you stay in the trackirs field of view, but I'm not sure why you would want to do that.

I usually like to use DBS Walk and Follow to save cockpit seat locations, then switch to them and use the TrackIR to look around, lean closer etc. In this video, the observer seat is a preset view location I use, then I'm just looking around with the TrackIR. Much better that way.

quick question do you start descending at the top of descent?

Sometimes I do, Usually I star a descent before the Decent point which puts the aircraft in a more gentle power on decent. Sometimes ATC will decend me after the decent point which usually requires some Airbrakes to get back onto the decent profile.
