At a Saturday 10/3/09 breakfast of the Cherokee County GOP, U.S. Rep. Nathan Deal makes a reference to "ghetto grandmothers" who don't have birth certificates. He apologized for his use of the term the following Monday.

  • @blkguynlex I live in Georgia, I know what these "good-old" boy white folks are like, I assure you he was talking about black grandmothers.

It is still dumbfounding to me how some white people are still such racists (and I do know that there are whites who are not racist at all). Why don't the racists go somewhere else?! We ain't goin nowhere! I never understood why people unprovoked have to resort to racism and lies and bigotry.

  • It is so unfortunate that there is so much hate in the world simply because of race. It is unfortunate that people in leadership roles perpetuate so much ill and hostile feelings.

  • @AmusedChild thank goodness for common sense!

  • @djluminus Because it makes them feel better about their insecure little untalented selves, that's why. They will never go anywhere else because they are not going anywhere in life, but they blame everyone else but themselves for that. Race is an easy target even though genetically we are all one race. Dude probably rejects the science that says that we all came from Africa and are related to each other.

  • @blkguynlex OK, I'm not racist!! I think the majority of people in the city (atlanta) are ok, its very liberal/democrat, the rest of GA especially the countryside and mountainside, thats where its gets a lil dangerous to be non-white.

  • @djluminus, I've been to Georgia before and found that a lot of blacks were just as racist, my own cousin being one of them. It's backwards thinking regardless of what race of the person it's coming from.

  • are you f@cking kidding me? since when does not being PC make you a racist? he said 'ghetto grandmother' in reference to what? an 'inner city, african american' grandmother. and...it was used in the context that he was describing where she came from as to why she didn't have a birth certificate. i wonder if half 'you people' that commented (wtf?! he said 'you people'! he must be racist!) get this torqued about the garbage that people like Al Sharpton spew.

  • @tomekadorsey09 lol i kno right

  • This doucebaug is a piece of work and being from Georgia and knowing how people are around here- he might win. His entire platform has been based on blaming minorities for the problems with the economy. He even put out a commercial that bashed Roy Barnes as another "Obama", and that Barnes thinks "Mexicans are good for Georgia".

  • What a nasty man! Everyone deserves immediate emergency medical assistance regardless of where they are from or where they are. As a card carrying insurred US citizen, I travel the world and have never been questioned or refused medical attention in other countries.

  • @blkguynlex and when one talks about victims of the holocaust, one automatically thinks "jew" - because most were. Same here: the general understanding of the term "ghetto" in the U.S. is racially charged and refers specifically to African Americans (not poor hispanics or whites). Either Deal was trying to appeal to racist sentiments or he's too stupid to communicate in American English. Either way, that disqualifies him for office.
