At long last, Tanja Dankner's debut album is here: or rather,
«Somewhere», an authentic, 100% from-the-heart, totally organic
product, a mature mix of classic soul and timeless singer/songwriter
qualities and the calling card of a true virtuosa.
somewhere
Dankner has been a dependable fixture of the Swiss pop and soul
scene for the past 15 years, starting out with brother Phil in Soul Affair,
the duo that won the 1995 "kleiner Prix Walo", and going on a few years
later with a little help from Stefan Raab to bewitch German pop fans in
their turn. Originally from Basel and now based in Zurich, Tanja is also
a sought-after studio singer (recording with such artists as Nazareth,
Michael von der Heide and Martin Schenkel) and session musician,
and the pet vocalist of house DJs like Jamie Lewis. Tanja's tonsils have
graced team Switzerland's official song at the Winter Olympics in Turin
and the Swiss national anthem at the 2009 Ice Hockey World Cup,
where the delicate lady with the great big voice had the privilege of
opening an international event held in her very own homeland.
