Listen to Mr. Russo's playing of Op. 10 No. 3. It is highly lyrical and beautiful playing.

PS: Cortot's technique was certainly inconsistent, but like the girl with the curl, when he was good, he was very very good. . . and he rarely failed to display vivid imagination and unique insight.
Mr. Russo's Opus 10 #5, by the way is on the same exalted level as Pletnev.
Enjoyed your excellent reading of the G-Minor Ballade, Mr. Barton. As I said at the site, your piano SOUND is rich and glorious. Also I like your measured, thoughtful, intensely lyrical approach to the music.

I tend to agree, Mr. Russo is very great, but you really should hear CLAIRE HUANGCI. Her playing of this is beyond the imagination of most critics.
Also Cortot gives a splendidly imaginative reading with marvelous accents and inner voices never displayed by anyone else that I know of. Cortot's understanding of Chopin was unparalleled.
This takes nothing away from Mr. Russo. He's an IMPORTANT talent. I'd love to know more about him.

ciao sandro.. mi chiamo leandro e sono anche io di san giovanni gemini.. volevo solo dirti che sei 1 grande al pianoforte.. dopo aver visto il video posso affermare che sei veramente un fenomeno.. complimenti.. un paesano che valorizza e realizza con la musica nn lo avevo ancora conosciuto.

This is the most fluent and musical version of this Etude I know of, it gives me great pleasure. So many colours and exquisite phrasing. You make it look as natural as breathing but it's profoundly difficult. And, you are playing live on top of that ... just sheer fantastic!
