And of course Elvira was sued by Vampira, the original horror hostess, for infringing on her look. There's not much new in the land of horror movie hosts.

For the record, Elvira WASN'T "the first female horror host". That honor goes to Vampira (played by the late Maila Nurmi) from KABC-TV in the mid 1950s. Not only the first female horror host, Vampira was one of THE first horror hosts, period.

As for the ever-delicious Elvira, it's a well-known fact that she was simply a blatant ripoff (homage?) of Nurmi's Vampira character (Nurmi even sued over it eventually).

This was broadcast on a Southern California TV station KDOC TV channel 56; back in 2002 and 2003. I was 22 and 23 then and loved watching Ivonna and Butch Patrick (Eddie Munster on the Munsters) exchanging funny witty lines, making fun of the classic B movies. They would also go to Hollywood and search for haunted locations. I miss this show. Here is where I first saw Night of the Living Dead

Now they show Elvira's Movie Macabre. I love MT but unfortunately, KDOC doesnt show it. I will settle for Elvira's how but theyre the same movies of MT. =O
