Russia marks Victory Day

The war took the lives of at least 27 million Soviet people. To mark their sacrifice, memorial ceremonies and Victory Day celebrations are being held throughout Russia.

well, name me the sources upon which the estimation about Soviet rapes has been done. There were later German medical reports about women who claimed such cases. But who can check whether the women were not systematically encouraged to do such claims? First argument is that a women can fabricate the case. Second - the figures about American and other allied soldiers (also involved in rapes, as documents show), could be distorted. Third, the cases could be fabricated to discredit USSR

Russian took bad example from Europe??? The Russian army always had a problem with mass rape--when Napoleon was beaten the first time in 1814, Russian troops went on a rape binge in Paris (and it went on binges when it put down the democratic revolutions in Eastern Europe in the 1800's)!!! The biggest prob with you Russians is that you know jackshit of your own history!

There's a big difference between a minority of American soldiers committing rape (every army has bad apples), and rape on the scale that the Red Army perpetrated it. Stop denying the negative, apologize for them, and move on!!! At the very least you can save face by saying the atrocities of the USSR were committed by commies, who hurt Russians too!

Actually, in BBC's "War of the Century", old Russian soldiers ADMIT to systemic Rape. The Commie Czech leader installed by Stalin COMPLAINED to Stalin about all the rapes!

If I were you I'd be more concerned about Russian propaganda than western prop. The west has a free press, unlike Russia, and they--or some academic (and the west has many scholars who hate the west)--would have uncovered this as lies if it was bullshit. Yet they haven't yet. Hmmm...
