When I play these German songs in Germany, audiences usually remember them, and they listen, sometimes they sing along, and they are reminded. I travel to Germany every year, to do a small-time concert tour with my German musician friends--town festivals, pubs, a woodland resort--that sort of thing.

It's very gratifying to me to revisit my own ancestral homeland and bring its music back to them. Some may be Americanizing Germany, but not me.
