  • Personal Responsibility: Let me add that the ODs over-prescribe by -1 to -3 diopters -- and don't tell you. I suggest you get a Snellen eye-chart (for free) from I-SEE, and put it up at 20 feet. Put a bright light on it and read it. You are required to pass the 20/40 line (and before the minus most can). Most people, at that point can get out of it, under THEIR control. But it does take wisdom and persistence.

  • An OD is indeed in a "bad position" -- AFTER the child INDUCES negative status. But it was the child's nose-on-page habit that induced the situation IN THE FIRST PLACE. An OD should POINT THIS OUT, and describe prevention (at 20/40, and -3/4 diopters) as the second-opinion. It is the responsibility of the person himself TO PROTECT HIS DISTANT VISION WITH THE PLUS.

  • i'm already myopia? so what's the point of this? anyway good info for children who're not yet myopic

  • No, the second-opinion is that the "plus" should be use FOR PREVENTION before any minus is applied.

  • Interesting statements in public. Optometrists destroy children. Disgraceful!

  • Listen to Don to minute 2. Then skip to minute 5. Don is very good to devote his efforts to true plus-prevention. Otis
