It is easy to "sell" the benefits that all would get from the use of computers and access to the world wide web but so many elderly people are reluctant to try. One approach is to provide the equipment in the homes where they reside which id what has been done in the case that I have presented. Of course many of us have elderly relatives and why not, within your own family, try to give the encouragement that this company is doing.

  • My nan actually went out and bought herself an iPhone 4 a week ago, lol. Its awesome.

  • ahahaha that was awesome!

new (huge) fan of yours geriatric1927 :D

  • Its is a big issue - if you search for RACE ONLINE 2012 you will see a great campaign that is trying to tackle the issues in this blog. Its never easy but the benefits are pain to see from geriatric is KING OF THE SILVER SURFERS!

  • @MrGamingAdventure and @death55546 You don't understand what I was saying and I don't want to explain it ' cause you wont understand. You live YOUR life and I live MINE.

P.s.: When you're old you'll probably talk the same about the media that will be new WHEN you're old. I say it's better to perfect the tech we have now rather than make new tech. Peace, out!

  • @laura43fun Without the internet and all this 'new media'. I would never have met my current girlfriend who lives 4600 miles away in the US of A. Or a large majority of my friend's who are online too (not afraid to admit it.)

New media brings us to new heights every time its updated. Sure it creates problems, but it brings many MANY more benefits then problems. Also, the fact your using this 'new media' (The Internet) to communicate your 'reasons for no need of new media' (the internet) fails.

  • @laura43fun You heard him in the video, he said these people are talking to people that they haven't spoken to in years. So 50 years ago is was probably pretty hard.

  • @death55546 Look 50 years ago. Old people didn't need stuff like that at all to communicate to family. And look how old the human race is. Technology wasn't necessary at all. No we can extinct ourselves by destroying our planet, that must be a great ability (sarcasm).

AND YOU SIR WANT ME TO BE LIKE "Old people suck" <- I didn't say that, nor anything close. You want me to say that. I'm not talking to you anymore.

  • @laura43fun No, it WAS against old people, because right now this is a prime way of communicating with their friends and family before they pass away. Trying to take that away is taking it away from these people, and therefore denying them easy access to communication.

  • @death55546 My comment wasn't against old people. It was against all this new media nonsense. And if you protect the developers of this media stuff -> I say innovation sucks, it leads us to even more problems as we already have.

  • @laura43fun Advancement is part of the human race, and it isn't bad at all. A 100 year old woman is communicating with her FAMILY, something I'm sure she would deeply love to do freely at any time. Thankfully elderly people are getting a taste of that. Your comment is very negative as you are suggesting that we deny these people the ability to communicate very easily with family. I think this is a beautiful thing.
