I really liked the opening with the strings. But once the horns came in, it felt a little contrived

I have a dream... A dream where every composer can easily admit that singers' melodies are made to be SUNG, not to be played by an instrument...
In case you still feel like playing what he sings, then for god's sake use bends and slides on your melody... Otherwise, it'll always sound like a computer copy...
Anyway... Your arrangements are interesting, especially the bridge...

I think when you hit every note it sounds jumpy and therefore a little kiddish. I think parts of this sound fabulous. But have to find a way to avoid hitting every single note.
