Hey SG, he is a spot-fin porcupine puffer fish/Diodon hystrix and is in the same family (Diodon) as the Porcupine Puffer fish you see at your LFS. Unlike the Porcupines at your LFS that grow to a max of 19inches these guys will grow to 3 foot!

People, he's a puffer, the important point you are missing is that he is called Eric, and is my favourite fish in the whole of Lanta - apart from Big Eric, the whale shark. Thanks for giving me a piece of Koh Ha to treasure again. i miss it.xx

That's not a porcupine puffer...I think that's a box fish.

Hello there,
The footage you saw in the video is all of the same Porcupine Pufferfish, shot in the lagoon at Ko Haa - some beautiful uninhabited islands of Thailand's west coast. He lives there and is very fond of divers, especially if you have yellow fins.
Someday soon we'll try and make a little video of a boxfish so you can compare them - they are much smaller the Porcupine Puffers, but just as cute & funny!
Hope you enjoyed the video and thanks for commenting....
