  • thanks for the video. do you by any chance have a video of how to install the HS and elevator, TIPS? i am very confused by what ll needs to be done to close the open part of the tips, people using balsa wood, fiberglass cloths, etc... any help is greatly appreciated.

  • @zigan123 I haven't done mine yet, but if you're ever at Oshkosh, attend one of the composite fiberglass workshops (the one that's just an hour or two long). There, you'll take a piece of foam and lay up a couple of layers of fiberglass cloth and epoxy. You can take that to your shop (and make more), cut it to size with a band saw, and then attach it to the tip with a fillet of microfiber/epoxy (or cotton flox/epoxy), and lay up another couple of layers of fiberglass strips to secure it.

  • Is it okay to rivet like that while the stabilizer is resting only on the bottom clecos? I guess it isn't so bad since you're supporting it with the bucking bar?

  • @ohazi Yeah it seems to be OK. As you said, I'm not pushing down on the assembly -- I'm pushing the rivet gun onto the rivet/skin which is up against the bucking bar which I'm holding in the other hand.
